Bonjour et Bienvenue `a My Little Paris
I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day.......I know I really did. I was thinking of how this particular special day has bent and stretched and changed over the years. As a little girl, and as an adult, I honored my mother on this day........and my children honored me. Then, my mom was gone and it was the kids and I........I remember when they were little, they planted seeds at school and then gave me little plants and they made their own cards. It's so different though, when they're grown, when they're out on their own........they're busy adults with family or responsibilities of their own.............and I always feel a special connection with them, when they make time for me on Mother's Day..........whether it's a text, or phone call or they stop by.
Over the years I've had some great Mother's Days, but two stand out for me. Back........oh, it must be fifteen years ago, just after my son moved out on his own, he called me on Mother's Day to talk about affairs of the heart. He knew his dad wasn't home and he just wanted to talk to me. I just loved, that even though he was a young man, he still came to me when he needed to talk. My favorite year with my daughter was a few years ago. She played receiver on the Regina Riot Women's Tackle Football team and they beat the Saskatoon Valkyries, at home, on Mother's Day that year, for the first time ever. Being on the field to share that victory with her was the best feeling ever. Incidentally, the Riot triumphed over the Valks in Saskatoon this weekend as well.
Yesterday was every bit as good as those other wonderful years. I talked to my daughter several times, had a visit with my son and grandboys............and I pulled the boutique together. I was in early and spent the entire time setting up displays in preparation for the opening on Friday. It's my thing and I loved every minute of it, this is what I've been looking forward to doing for months. I had such fun!! I'd been waiting for those fabulous purses to arrive from Mona B and they did on Friday, so everything was here, I had so many lovely things to choose from. My husband stopped by on his way home from the farm, it was after five already and I couldn't believe that the whole day had passed.
It's going to be a very busy week, but I can see it now.......actually I guess I've always been able to see it, but now it's really becoming real. My good friend Aimee, from Tangerine and Evolution Catering has promised delightful petit fours to add to the sparkle of the day. I just can't wail til Friday.
