Bonjour et Bienvenue `a My Little Paris
The past few days have been busy ones at the boutique. I attended an antique show and found all kinds of wonderful things for you. I found silver flatware, lovely oak furniture, a vintage recliner (if you can imagine), distressed silver, and china......lots of china.
I am hoping that you'll love using vintage china as much as I do. You see, I believe in making use of all the pretty things that I have, I like to have them out........and around where I can see them and use them, they add a little "joie" to my day. . It's nice to sit down to eat, on a pretty plate at a nice place setting, and I don't see why we shouldn't do that more often.
What I have done for years is to collect old china........oh yes, I love full sets of pristine pieces, but I also love the delicate, everyday stuff.........the dishes my grandma or great aunts would have used each and every day, the ones with the chips and fine cracks, the ones that show the love and the life that they've lived. It's the exact same thing as we used in the old cottage when I was a kid. It doesn't matter if you have four, or six, or eight of any one pattern, because mixing and matching them is half the fun. Sometimes I'll set the table and keep a colour theme in mind, but often, I will set every place with a different plate in all kinds of colours. It makes it fun, and it's pretty to look at, and it gives me that warm, comfy feeling that comes from my days at the lake, and what we now call, the Shabby Chic look. And, when dinner is over ............yes, I do put them in the dishwasher, of course I do. Who wants to do dishes when you could be visiting with family and friends?
These vintage dishes are especially good for dining on the deck. They're so much better than using your good dishes or (god forbid) paper plates!! It's easy to perch on a deck chair with a real dinner plate.........and if one gets roughed up or broken.........oh well. And again................when you're through.........into the dishwasher. What could be easier, and it will add so much to your experience.
What's really fun is having family for dinner and using a mix of Great Grandma's everyday china, and Great Aunt Elma's dishes and so many others.........everyone recognizes them and the stories start to flow, there are happy memories to share......and again, it only adds to the "joie" of the moment.........so think about it. Give my great old dishes a chance.........pick up a few at the boutique and try them the next time you entertain. The price is right........and the experience is unforgettable.....
